How to Start a Classic Restoration Project

Home|Archives forAuto Body Shop

You’ve finally obtained the car of your dreams, but it is going to need some serious repairs before it will be roadworthy. Following the right procedure can help you avoid being overwhelmed by your auto restoration project. Set yourself up for success by following these steps.

Location, Location, Location

Where you intend to keep the car is an important detail. It will likely be there for quite some time, so ensure that it won’t be in the way. Access to the car is also very important. You’ll want to be able to access any necessary areas easily, so an open space is ideal.

Take Pictures

Taking pictures will make it easier to reassemble the vehicle when you are ready. If you ever decide to sell the vehicle, the pictures will also help you prove that the necessary work has been done. Seeing the progress you’ve made might help to motivate you if you begin feeling overwhelmed.

Disassembly

Ensure that you remove the battery and empty the gas tank. Then you will want to completely disassemble the car. This disassembly will show you where work needs to be completed. Take note of the work you will be able to do yourself and the work that will require the assistance of a professional. It may also be helpful to separate the necessary repairs into categories, such as electrical or mechanical.

Multiple Workspaces

It will be helpful to set up at least two workplaces, if possible. This will help you avoid setbacks during the restoration process. Whenever repairs are halted due to weather or waiting for necessary parts, you can simply work on the other part.

A classic car restoration project is a huge undertaking. You’re passionate about your project, and we are passionate about helping you realize your dreams. Contact us at New Vision Collision for more information about successfully completing your auto restoration project today!

Automobile accidents can be scary enough without the additional stress of negotiating with an insurance company. This process can be made even more difficult without a thorough knowledge of automobiles. Here at New Vision Collision, we understand this, which is why we handle the insurance claim process for you. Whether you intend to deal with the insurance company yourself or would prefer for us to, here are a few steps that will make your claim process easier.

1. Photograph Everything

You’ll want to take as many photos as possible at the scene of the accident. Document the damage to your car and the other car. Record any involved property, including fences, mailboxes, or signs. Thoroughly document any injuries daily, ensuring that you also capture the recovery process. You can never have too much information when processing an auto insurance claim.

2. Call the Police

Whether the accident is your fault or not, you should always call the police. The police will then file a report that can be vital in solving insurance disputes. Make sure to obtain a copy of their official report, so that you can prove fault to the insurance company.

3. Report the Accident

You should report the accident to your insurance, regardless of who was at fault. Even if you intend to go through the other party’s insurance, you must still alert your insurance company about the accident.

Collision repairs can be an extreme hassle, but we are happy to make your auto repair process as easy as possible. Take some of the weight off of your shoulders and allow us to take care of the insurance claim process for you. We will ensure that the least amount of money comes out of your pocket. For more information about dealing with the insurance process following an auto accident, contact us at New Vision Collision today.
